She received a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education (1986) and a Master’s degree in Art Therapy (1992) from Concordia University in Montreal. She has worked as an art teacher with children at the Visual Arts Center in Westmount and as an art therapist in hospital, CLSC and community settings with adults and seniors experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties. Her interest in group dynamics and psychotherapy lead her to pursue training at the Centre d’études et de recherche en psychothérapie psychanalytique and to work as an art therapist and psychotherapist in private practice. Since April 1994, she is the Director of Expression LaSalle community mental health center in LaSalle, which specializes in the creative arts therapies. Ms. Olivier is a professional member of Association des art-thérapeutes du Québec (AATQ) www.aatq.org. She holds the title of Registered Art Therapist (A.T.R.) with the American Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc. and a psychotherapy permit issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec www.ordrepsy.qc.ca. She was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the Association des art-thérapeutes du Québec in September 2008, in recognition for her many years of service to the art therapy community.
