Ariane Lavery, MA, holds a Bachelor’s degree in dramatic art from the École supérieure de théâtre de l’UQAM (2012), a Certificate in Psychology from UQAM (2018) and a Master’s degree in Drama Therapy from Concordia University in Montreal (2022).
During her clinical training, Ariane worked in adult mental health in an art therapy center, at the CLSC de Parc-Extension in youth mental health and in community organizations with an adolescent clientele. During her master’s degree in drama therapy, she developed many techniques, skills and intervention competencies, in both group and individual settings, to support, accompany and help people with various mental health problems (depression, anxiety, grief, social precariousness, etc,). She also has been working with children, adolescents and families of recent or second generation immigrants, which has greatly equipped her to intervene in a context of plurality and cultural diversity. Ariane completed a Certificate in play therapy from UQAM (2021), which aims to help young people between the ages of three and thirteen actualize themselves and reduce their distress through play. This certificate also equipped her with the basic principles of family therapy, as well as parent-child relationships (parent coaching). Having been in the artistic field for more than ten years, Ariane’s experience supports her ability to intervene in group or individual settings, work with different age groups and reinforces her skills as a drama therapist. In addition to working as a drama therapist for Expression LaSalle, Ariane has her own private practice.
Ariane Lavery is a member of the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association and a professional allied member of the l’Association des art-thérapeutes du Québec.
